Peer Advisory Board

What is a Peer Advisory Board?

A peer advisory board is a structured group of experienced business owners and senior leaders who meet regularly to challenge each other's thinking, share perspective, and improve the quality of decisions before they are made.

Unlike a formal board of directors, a peer advisory board carries no legal obligation and no equity stake. Its value is entirely practical: a confidential space where leaders can bring real challenges and receive independent, experienced challenge in return.

How is it different from coaching or consulting?

A coach works on you. A consultant works on the problem. A peer advisory board works on the decision — using the collective experience of people who have faced similar challenges, facilitated to ensure the conversation stays focused and productive.

No one around the table is paid to give you an answer. That independence is precisely what makes the thinking more useful.

Who is it for?

Peer advisory boards work best for established business owners and senior leaders — typically those running businesses with turnover of £500k or more — who are making decisions with real consequences and want independent challenge before committing.

It is particularly valuable for founder-led businesses where there is no formal board, no non-executive director, and no structured forum for strategic thinking.

What happens in a session?

Each session focuses on one member's strategic challenge. They present the situation. Those around the table listen, ask questions, and challenge assumptions. A structured framework — at The Director's Table, this is The TABLE Method — guides the conversation from the presenting problem through to a clear next step.

Every member leaves with something they can apply, not just the member in focus.

What is The Director's Table?
